My Journey

At the beginning of this project I did not think it was going to be an easy project but I did not think it was going to be this hard. I have just finished getting all of my interviews and I am writing the stories of the people I interviewed. It is hard because I want to make sure that I tell their story accurately and cast them in the best light. Over the duration of this process I come to find out that I am not the most vocal person and I do not speak up and ask for help when needed. But that is a struggle in more than in this project. But this project helped me see that it is truly something I need to work on. I loved going to the different organizations and learning about their story and how homelessness has affected them. Some have great success stories others were not as successful but the story was just as intriguing. I hope that after this project I learn a little bit more about myself. What I like, what I do not like, and what I am capable of. I met some people that may not have been as privileged as me but still wore a smile on their face. Because they are alive and offered another chance to be great.

Life is known for its twists and turns but something beautiful is supposed to come out of it. I hope that when I tell these people’s stories that it will shed light on a prominent problem in our community and show that there are people out there that need help. And who are we not to help them. It is important that we always be knowledgeable about what is going on in the world around us. Our knowledge is the one thing that cannot be taken away from us. My goal for this project is to become a resource for the ones who don’t know and voice for the ones that do but are unable to get their voice across because people are unaware. Before this class I did not know if writing i something that I was still passionate in. But I am. I love sharing stories and just listening to them. All some people want is someone to take the time to sit down and listen to them talk about what’s going on. I can agree that I love when I need to vent and someone is just there listening to me and it is not just myself talking. I think the final product of this project will be amazing and I think our community will want to help once they know it’s an issue.
